While today films are raking in crores left, right, and center, there was a year when only one film went full-on blockbuster! 😱 Yes, you heard it right, ek hi blockbuster!
Enter Bipasha Basu, breaking the norms and scaring the living daylights out of everyone with her horror flick Raaz. Released on February 1, 2002, it was the only film that year to make a dhamaka at the box office. Who would have thought that a horror film would steal the show and turn Bipasha into the superstar of the year?

Raaz came with a modest budget of 5 crore and left everyone in shock by earning a total of 22 crore, which means a whopping 340% profit! I mean, talk about paisa vasool, right? Bipasha must have been like, "Bhaiyya, aise kaise?!" 😆
Raaz VS Devdas!
Here’s where the real twist comes in! While Raaz was the second highest grosser, it trumped the profit game against the big, grand Devdas. Despite the grand setup, Devdas, which cost 30 crore, only managed 42.5 crore with a profit margin of just 41.67%. Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Aishwarya Rai might have been the talk of the town, but Bipasha sneaked away with the prize. 😂

The year 2002 was more like a thanda affair when it came to hits. Apart from Raaz, the only notable hits were Devdas, Saathiya, and Ek Chhoti Si Love Story. Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai tried its best but was just a "plus" affair.
