Why Munjya’s Abhay Verma Missed Out on Gangubai Kathiawadi & The Archies: “I Actually Auditioned…”

Munjya’s New Hero: Abhay Verma

So, Abhay Verma, the hero of the moment, is riding high on the success of Munjya. This horror-comedy directed by Aditya Sarpotdar hit the theaters on June 7 and has been raking in the moolah ever since. The film stars Sharvari, Mona Singh, and Sathyaraj alongside Abhay, and guess what? It’s already crossed the 100-crore mark! 🤯

Abhay’s portrayal of Bittu has left the audience swooning, and he’s now being hailed as the new National Crush. Wah bhai wah! But did you know, ye ladka almost ended up in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies? Imagine kar sakte ho?

Abhay Verma on The Archies & Gangubai Kathiawadi

In an interview, Abhay spilled the beans on why he chose not to be a part of The Archies and Gangubai Kathiawadi. He said, “Both The Archies and Safed were happening at the same time. I chose Safed over The Archies. I had auditioned for The Archies and had met Zoya. But, Safed ka ho hi gaya tha toh, I decided to go with the latter.”

Aur Gangubai Kathiawadi ka kya scene tha? Abhay revealed he was supposed to be part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus starring Alia Bhatt. "I wish I could have done that film but I had got another project at that time. But then, a few days after I couldn’t do Gangubai Kathiawadi, I met Alia for a brand shoot. Just a few days back, I had met Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for Gangubai Kathiawadi,” he shared.

Meanwhile, apart from Munjya, Abhay has been part of other projects like Super 30, Safed, and Ae Watan Mere Watan. He’s also flexed his acting chops in web series like Little Things, Marzi, and The Family Man. Wah bhai wah, kya range hai!
