A 20 Crore Gamble Turns into a 250 Crore Box Office Bonanza, Leaving Everyone Flabbergasted!

Arre yaar, kya scene hai Bollywood ka aajkal? Let’s dive into the dhamaal surrounding ‘The Kashmir Files’! This flick, directed by the ever-bold Vivek Agnihotri, hit the screens in March 2022 and left the box office looking shinier than a new rupee coin! Despite all the hungama, it managed to become a massive hit. With stalwarts like Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, and the legendary Mithun Chakraborty leading the charge, it was bound to be paisa vasool!

The Kashmir Files Box Office Ka Bawaal!

This film, which was crafted on a modest budget of around 15 to 25 crore, had a humble beginning with a 3.55 crore opening. But, boss, after that, it was like a rocket launch! 🚀 By the end of its first weekend, it crossed the 20 crore mark, reaching 26.05 crore. The first-week earnings were a jaw-dropping 97.30 crore, eventually raking in a lifetime collection of 252.50 crore! With such numbers, it became the third-highest-grossing film of 2022, trailing only behind ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Drishyam’. Talk about a super duper hit! And to top it all, it bagged a National Award for Best Feature Film On National Integration. Wah, kya baat hai!

Controversy Ka Tadka

But wait, kya aapko laga it was all smooth sailing? Nope! The movie found itself in the middle of a controversy ka samundar. Some folks labeled it as a propaganda piece, alleging it painted a particular community in a negative light. Arre bhai, Singapore ne toh ban bhi laga diya! Even celebs like Prakash Raj, Swara Bhasker, and Gauahar Khan had their critiques. However, the film still managed to outshine Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchhan Pandey’ at the box office. Kya baat hai, kya baat hai!

The Story Behind The Scenes

Featuring actors like Chinmay Mandlekar, Prakash Belawadi, and Puneet Issar, the film is a stark portrayal of the 1990 genocide of the Kashmiri Hindu Pandits. Kudos to Pallavi Joshi for snagging a National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her stellar performance! 🎭
