Oh, Bollywood, you never cease to amaze! Just when we were about to send out a search party for Akshay Kumarâs lost box office charm, along comes "Sky Force" like a much-needed rain shower in a drought. Our Khiladi has finally hit the jackpot again! đ
Bollywoodâs Action Star Returns!
Grab your popcorn, folks! "Sky Force" is soaring high with its opening day collections hitting a solid Rs 11.25 crore. Now, in the grand scheme of Bollywood budgets, a modest Rs 160 crore investment isnât much to sneeze at, right? But we all know itâs been a rocky runway for Akshay. His last mega-hit was "Sooryavanshi" back in 2021, which gathered an impressive Rs 293 crore globally. But since then, letâs just say, the box office hasnât been too kind to our favorite action star. Remember "Khel Khel Mein," "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," or "Raksha Bandhan"? Yeah, neither does anyone else. đ
The poor guy had to share the spotlight in "Singham Again" with Ajay Devgn, and merely popped up for a cameo in "Stree 2," which, letâs face it, was a Deepika and Hrithik show all the way with its Rs 857.15 crore haul.
The Aerial Battle of the Box Office!
"Sky Force" is already drawing comparisons to "Fighter," the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone thrill ride that took off around Republic Day last year, earning Rs 22.5 crore on day one. "Fighter" soared to a global success with Rs 358.83 crore, proving that audiences still love a good high-flying adventure. Can "Sky Force" match up? Time will tell, my dear Bollywood buffs.
Based on the gripping tale of Indiaâs first and deadliest airstrike during the 1965 India-Pakistan War, "Sky Force" introduces us to new talent Veer Pahariya, who plays IAF officer T Vijaya. Our hero Akshay takes on the role of KO Ahuja, the brave officer on a daring mission to find his missing comrade. And letâs not forget the formidable talents of Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan, who add their sparkle to this high-stakes narrative.
Directed by the dynamic duo Sandeep Kelwani and Abhishek Kapur, "Sky Force" is here to remind us that Bollywood can still deliver a punch when it wants to.
Nishaâs Nutshell:
