Avinash Tiwary’s ‘Laila Majnu’ Gets a Second Wind!
Who would’ve thought, right? Six saal baad (years later), and Avinash Tiwary’s debut film ‘Laila Majnu’ has pulled a Rajnikanth move and is back in theatres. And guess what? It’s on track to outperform its original box office run! 😲
Avinash ki Jai Ho!
Our hero Avinash took to X (formerly known as Twitter, because apparently, social media bhi naam badal sakta hai) to share his heartfelt thanks to fans. He reposted a report predicting the film’s re-release to cross its original box office collections in just 4 days. In his post, he wrote: “Thank you for all the love… I have always believed there is a huge segment of audience that doesn’t raise its voice… but Jo nahi bolte, Woh jab Bolte hain toh Kya Kamaal Bolte hain! This is your victory.” 🙏
For those who prefer numbers over emotions (ahem, bean counters), the film opened with ₹30 lakhs and jumped to ₹70 lakhs the next day. That’s a whopping 110% increase! Total two-day collection? ₹1 crore! Aur yeh to bas shuruaat hai (And this is just the beginning).
Dil Se Dil Tak
In an interview, Avinash spilled some emotional beans. He admitted feeling the pangs when ‘Laila Majnu’ didn’t get its due back in 2018. He said, "Laila Majnu didn’t get a chance to grow and was just taken off when it was released. So, I did feel a pain for it, and one just wanted due space for it to grow. But when I see so much love, there are moments I feel I wish they had shown it when it released, and the second thought that comes that good work does reach out to people. If not anything, the love from people at least heals you. So, I do feel my wound pretty healed."
Ab kya bolein? True love never gets old, and neither do good movies, apparently!

Directed by Sajid Ali, ‘Laila Majnu’ originally hit theatres on September 7, 2018. Sadly, it tanked at the box office back then. But as they say, ‘Achhe din aa gaye’ (Good days have come). The film has been reincarnated and how!
