Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Cashes In with $300 Million, While Wild Robot Takes a Stumble Overseas

Hello, my dear Bollywood aficionados! It’s your favorite cynical, sarcastic, and ever-so-witty snoop, Hollywood Hrishita, back again to spill the beans, throw the shade, and sprinkle some sass on the latest from the Hollywood box office! Ready for some spicy tidbits? Let’s dive in!

Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s "The Wild Robot" has taken off on an international joyride with a sweet $6.85 million from just eight markets. Yes, you heard it right, just EIGHT! 🌍💸

Top contributors to this electronic escapade? China with a whopping $4 million and Australia throwing in $1.9 million. This sci-fi survival saga features a robot stranded on an uninhabited island (sounds familiar, doesn’t it?), and it’s all set to make its grand entrance in North America and other territories on Sept. 27. The critics are raving, so who knows, this might just be the box office dark horse. Lupita Nyong’o lends her voice to ROZZUM unit 7134, or just Roz to her friends, as she navigates the wild and woolly world of island life, making furry pals along the way. 🦜🤖

Now, let’s talk about another animated spectacle that didn’t quite transform expectations – Paramount and Hasbro’s "Transformers One." 💥🤷‍♀️

Despite launching in 50 international markets, it only managed $14 million. Yes, folks, that’s double "The Wild Robot" but with six times the market presence. Ouch. Mexico was the top performer here with $2.2 million, followed by Australia at $1.5 million, Japan with $820,000, and Panama with $625,000.

With a celebrity filled voice cast featuring Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, and Scarlett Johansson, one would expect a bit more than the $25 million it scraped together in North America. Its global total stands at $39 million, which is a bit of a yawn considering its $75 million budget. Directed by "Toy Story 4" maestro Josh Cooley, this origin story of the Autobots and Decepticons is still struggling to shift gears. Even the IMAX screens only added $3 million to the kitty, with notable showings in Japan, India, and the Middle East. 🚗💨

But hold your horses! Neither of these newbies could dethrone the reigning champ – "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." 🧛‍♂️🏆

For the third weekend in a row, Tim Burton’s spooky sequel has been the box office overlord, raking in $17.2 million from 76 international territories. This brings its overseas haul to $103 million and a global total of $329.7 million. Clearly, this ghostly gig is the only thing keeping September from being a total snoozefest at the box office.

Moral of the Story: When in doubt, just summon Beetlejuice thrice and watch the magic happen. 🧙‍♂️✨

Until next time, darlings! Keep your popcorn buttery and your movie choices sassier than ever!
