Box Office Blues: “Devara: Part 1” and Its Friday Fiasco
Oh, the drama! **Devara: Part 1** (Hindi) seems to be playing hide and seek with success at the box office, and frankly, it’s getting harder to find. After a lukewarm Thursday that saw earnings dip to Rs. 2.40 crores, our hopes were pinned on Friday for a miraculous rebound. But alas, the collections slipped further to Rs. 2 crores*. It’s like expecting a firework and getting a fizzle instead!
Now, for the film to even sniff the trail of a decent weekend, it needed to hit Rs. 3-3.50 crores. That would have still been a nosedive from the first Friday’s Rs. 7.95 crores, but hey, we take what we can get, right? With Thursday’s collections sinking below Rs. 3 crores, Friday had to pull a rabbit out of the hat, but it seems the hat was empty. Eyes are now peeled for Saturday’s numbers, which need to leap over Rs. 3.50 crores if we are to dream of a Rs. 10 crores weekend. With **Joker: Folie a Deux** flopping harder than a fish out of water, the stage is all set for Jr. NTR’s film to grab the spotlight—but can it?
As it stands, the film has finally crawled past the Rs. 50 crores milestone, sitting at Rs. 50.27 crores*. The mission, should the film choose to accept it, is to cross Rs. 57-58 crores by weekend’s end. Not exactly a walk in the park, but if the film has any aspirations of a Rs. 70 crores lifetime, it’s now or never.
