Arre bhai, yeh Bollywood ka jalwa bhi kya kamaal hai! Imagine a movie that tanked at the box office in 2016, suddenly becomes the highest-grossing re-release in 2025! Kya baat hai! We’re talking about the Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane starrer, Sanam Teri Kasam. This blast from the past has made quite the dhamaka this time around!
So dosto, what went wrong back in 2016? Directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru spilled the beans, and boy, what a tale they tell. According to them, the film’s original flop show had a lot to do with the lack of proper marketing. They claim the studio didn’t exactly roll out the red carpet for their movie. Instead, they got a cold shoulder. Picture this: The studio folks, instead of helping, hit them with lines like, "Aap koi Bhansali ho, koi masterpiece banayi hai?" Hai re, such sarcasm! 😏
And it seems the studio was less than impressed with the casting choices too. Harshvardhan aur Mawra ki pairing was not exactly met with cheers. The directors recall, "Aap kya leke aaye ho? Na aap ki cast achi hai, na aapki picture okay hain." Ouch, that must’ve hurt! 😬
Fast forward to 2025, and it appears the tables have turned. The directors didn’t need to worry about promotions this time. Radhika Rao mentioned how fans were sliding into their DMs, demanding the movie’s re-release. Dekha jaye toh, yeh toh ek real-life Cinderella story hai, right? The film finally got its well-deserved audience, and the fans did a full 180, apologizing for missing it the first time. "Jungle mein mor naacha, kisne dekha? Ab dekho, sabne dekha!" 😄
As if to prove their point, Sanam Teri Kasam raked in 35.55 crores upon its re-release, leaving Tumbbad, Ghilli, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in the dust! That’s a solid comeback, with 88K tickets flying off the box office counters on its first re-release day itself!
Kiran’s Gyan: In Bollywood, kabhi kabhi, the timing is everything! Toh, if at first, you don’t succeed, just wait a few years and try again. Who knows, maybe the stars align, and your movie becomes the ‘mor’ everyone finally sees! 😂
