Breaking News: Hollywood Box Office Shake-Up!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the movies, here comes Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni with their sappy romance-drama “It Ends With Us,” snagging the top spot in the U.K. and Ireland box office with a cool ÂŁ4.5 million ($5.7 million). But hold your horses, Blake! Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” is still clawing its way through the box office, holding onto second place in its third week with ÂŁ4 million, bringing its grand total to a whopping ÂŁ42.9 million. đŸ€‘

And then there’s everyone’s favorite yellow minions in “Despicable Me 4,” still raking in the dosh in its fifth week. With £1.5 million this week, it sits comfortably in third place, reaching a massive total of £35.5 million. Talk about staying power! 😏

Warner Bros. tried to make a splash with their thriller “Trap,” but could only trap fourth place with £1.1 million. Better luck next time, WB!

Over at the fifth spot, Lionsgate U.K.’s “Borderlands” made a modest entrance, earning £843,159. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. continues to be a box office regular with “Twisters,” which held onto sixth place and added £619,801, surpassing the £12 million mark. Someone get them a medal! 🏅

Disney’s “Inside Out 2” just won’t quit, hanging onto the seventh spot in its ninth week with £618,055 and an overall haul of £54.1 million. Sony’s “Harold And The Purple Crayon” is scribbling its way to eighth place in its second week, collecting £215,080 for a total of £1.4 million.

Black Bear’s “Longlegs” managed to cling to the Top 10, landing ninth place in its fifth week with £212,841, bringing its total to £7.5 million. Finally, Sony played the nostalgia card with a one-week re-issue of “Spider-Man 2,” sneaking into tenth place with £208,243, adding to its lifetime total of £26.7 million. Spidey still got it!

Upcoming: What’s Next in the Cinema Circus?

Mark your calendars for Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024—Indian Independence Day! It’s going to be a Bollywood bonanza with “Khel Khel Mein” featuring Akshay Kumar, Ammy Virk, and Taapsee Pannu, “Stree 2” serving up more horror-comedy hilarity, and Ravi Teja’s action-packed “Mr. Bachchan.” 🎉

And don’t forget, Disney’s “Alien: Romulus” directed by Fede Alvarez and starring Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, Archie Renaux, and David Jonsson, will invade over 300 locations on Friday, Aug. 16. Sony’s also playing the nostalgia game again with a one-week re-issue of “Spider-Man 3.”

Other new kids on the block include the Cannes-debuting crime drama “Only The River Flows” by Wei Shujun, and Curzon’s Venice-playing Taliban documentary “Hollywoodgate.” Bollywood fans, get ready for “Vedaa” starring John Abraham and Sharvari, and for some classic vibes, check out the 4K restoration of John Sayles’ “Lone Star.”

To round out this smorgasbord of cinema, we’ve got Dogwoof’s SXSW title “Swan Song” and Vue Entertainment’s family flick, “Ryan’s World The Movie: Titan Universe Adventure." 🎬

Moral of the Story:

If Hollywood has taught us anything, it’s that minions never die, nostalgia sells, and there’s always room for another Spider-Man re-release. đŸŽ„

Stay sassy, stay savvy, and see you at the movies! đŸŽŸïž
