John Abraham’s ‘The Diplomat’ Holds Its Ground with a Decent Weekend at the Box Office

Boxoffice Bhaskar’s Box Office Banter: The Diplomat’s Fair Weekend

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, gather around for another episode of "What’s Hot and What’s Not" at the Bollywood Box Office! Our star of this weekend’s show is none other than The Diplomat. So, did it diplomatically charm its way to the top or did it just send out lukewarm emissaries? Let’s dive in, shall we?

A Diplomatic Debut

Opening the weekend with Rs. 13.45 crores, The Diplomat certainly didn’t need any special envoy to report its earnings. Starting off with a not-so-shabby Rs. 4.03 crores on Friday, the film saw a respectable rise over the weekend. However, if you were expecting this film to double its collections faster than a diplomatic handshake, you’re in for a mild surprise. The numbers were more of a polite nod than a standing ovation.

A Word of Mouth Affair

Now, don’t get me wrong, the film did witness some growth each day, primarily driven by the oh-so-powerful word of mouth. It’s like that time when you heard a rumor about the canteen’s secret menu and had to try it for yourself. Sunday collections crept up to Rs. 4.74 crores, just a smidge above Saturday’s Rs. 4.68 crores. If only it had reached the Rs. 6-7 crores mark, then we’d be talking about a diplomatic breakthrough!

John Abraham’s Bargain

But fear not, dear readers! There’s a silver lining for our protagonist, John Abraham. With a lifetime collection projected well beyond the Rs. 15-20 crores mark—possibly because there was more mystery than marketing before the film’s release—The Diplomat is sitting pretty. Additionally, with no major competition for two whole weeks, this film has time to stretch its legs and bask in the multiplex glow.

The Calm Before Sikandar

The movie has a clear runway until Sikandar makes an entrance two weekends from now. So, for all you metro city cinephiles, The Diplomat is ready to charm you at your local cinema. Just remember, it’s playing the long game, not the quick win.

So, there you have it, folks. A weekend that’s fair, a film that’s there, and a box office tale that’s got you comparing it to your last diplomatic dinner party. Keep your popcorn ready, until next time! 🎬🍿

Note: All collections are as per various box office sources.
