Korean Box Office: ‘The Substance’ Rises to Fame While ‘Harbin’ Dominates the Scene

Gather ’round, my Bollywood buffs! Hollywood Hrishita is back with another dose of juicy tidbits from the land of popcorn and red carpets. This time, we’re taking a quick detour from our beloved Bollywood and strutting over to South Korea, where an unexpected guest is stealing the spotlight!

Well, well, well, if it isn’t "The Substance" showing up and showing out in South Korea’s box office scene! 🎬 Over the weekend of January 17-19, this little gem catapulted itself to the fourth spot, flexing with a whopping 72% boost in sales. Now, that’s what I call making an entrance! With Demi Moore snagging a Golden Globe for her role, it’s no wonder the film raked in a cool KRW307.1 million, which translates to $211,900 for those counting dollars instead of won. More than 31,000 moviegoers couldn’t resist its charm, snagging it a cozy 5.7% slice of the market pie. 🍰

Demi, darling, it seems you’ve got the Midas touch! And who knew South Korea had such a soft spot for a Hollywood flick? Maybe next time they’ll be tuning into a Bollywood blockbuster. 😉

MORAL OF THE STORY: In the ever-unpredictable world of cinema, when life gives you subtitles, make sure they lead you to the top of the box office! 🎭
