‘Mad About the Boy’ Rakes in $32 Million—Guess the Boy’s Worth It!

Ah, the sweet allure of Bridget Jones has struck again! 🎬 Move over, Mr. Darcy, because the queen of quirky romance is back, and she’s sweeping hearts across the globe! Yes, folks, "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy," the fourth chapter in the saga of our favorite diary-keeper, has fluttered its way to a cool $35.5 million from 71 international markets! That’s right, Bridget has outdone "Sex and the City 2" in the overseas romantic comedy showdown! Who would have thought?

Now, while our American chums are sulking because Bridget decided to premiere on Peacock instead of gracing the silver screens, the international fans are all in. The UK and Ireland are Bridget’s biggest cheerleaders, contributing a whopping $14.8 million to the pot. Australia and France also showed some love, each adding $3.3 million. 🎟️

Not to rub salt in the wound, but Bridget has always been the globe-trotting star! Remember her earlier exploits? "Bridget Jones’s Diary," "The Edge of Reason," and "Bridget Jones’s Baby" all had international fans swooning more than the domestic crowd, with foreign sales making up a lion’s share of the box office revenue. 📈

Directed by Michael Morris, this time our beloved Bridget is navigating life as a widowed single mom, falling head over heels for a younger hunk. With a celebrity filled cast including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, and Leo Woodall, and a hefty $50 million budget, it’s a recipe for romantic chaos!

But wait, there’s more action in the box office universe! Marvel’s "Captain America: Brave New World," starring Anthony Mackie, is charging ahead with $92.4 million from 52 international markets and a smashing $100 million in North America over the Presidents Day weekend. Talk about a blockbuster! 🦸‍♂️

China, however, had its own hero tale with "Ne Zha 2," which is raking in historic numbers, leaving "Captain America" trailing. Yet, Captain America still managed impressive feats in the UK, Mexico, and Korea.

And oh, Imax had a field day, nearly breaking records with $43 million this Presidents Day weekend. "Brave New World" and "Ne Zha 2" were the star attractions, with the latter setting new benchmarks in China.

Moral of the Story: In the world of cinema, love and superheroes are a universal language… except when they aren’t in theaters near you! 💔🎥
