Boxoffice Bhaskar’s Take: "Kalki 2898 AD" Smashes Its Way to a Stellar Start!
Ladies and gentlemen, gather around! The much-awaited sci-fi extravaganza, Kalki 2898 AD, has finally descended upon us mere mortals, and guess what? It’s raining box office collections harder than the Mumbai monsoons!
Opening Day Bonanza… on a Thursday?!
Despite barely any pre-release buzz (who needs marketing when you’ve got Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, right?), Kalki 2898 AD has managed to rake in a whopping Rs. 23 to 25 crores on its first day. Yes, you heard it right. On a working Thursday. While half of Mumbai was wading through ankle-deep water, the other half was busy flocking to the cinemas.
Cricket vs. Cinema: The Ultimate Face-off
But wait, there’s more drama. Just when you thought the film was cruising, enter the India vs England World Cup Semi-Final. Talk about a nail-biting contest! As our boys in blue battled it out on the field, the footfalls in cinema halls understandably slowed down post 6 PM. Yet, Kalki still managed to pocket Rs. 10 crores from national multiplex chains and another Rs. 14 crores from the non-national chains. Take that, cricket!
The Fighter Duel
And if that wasn’t enough, Kalki is locking horns with Fighter, the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-starrer that also opened at around Rs. 24 crores. Sure, Fighter had the advantage of higher ticket prices and the Republic Day holiday boost, but who’s counting? Oh right, I am.
Weekend Warrior
Brace yourselves, folks. While Friday might see a slight dip (because, you know, everyone needs a breather), the weekend is all set to bring in the moolah. With positive word-of-mouth, Kalki 2898 AD is poised to soar higher than a Bollywood hero’s jump in a gravity-defying action sequence.
So there you have it. Kalki 2898 AD has kicked off with a bang, and it’s only getting started. Who needs a time machine when you’ve got box office numbers like these?
Stay tuned for more updates, because with Boxoffice Bhaskar, the drama never ends!
