Kalki 2898 AD has stormed into theatres with a bang, and boy, has it made a splash! Our darling Prabhas is back on the big screen, and what a comeback it is! The film has already crossed the Rs 600 crore mark globally, as per Sacnilk. In India, it kicked off with a whopping Rs 95.3 crore nett. By its seventh day, the movie raked in Rs 23.2 crore. Now, don’t get too excited; it did suffer a 75% drop since its release. But hey, from day six to seven, the drop was only 14.23%, bringing its total to Rs 393.4 crore. Not too shabby, eh?
The Telugu version of Kalki 2898 AD recorded a 31.38% overall occupancy on its seventh day. Directed by the talented Nag Ashwin, this film has been making waves in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, English, and Malayalam. The Telugu release alone grossed Rs 202.8 crore in its first week in India, while the Hindi version bagged Rs 152.5 crore, making it the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. Sorry, Ajay Devgn, your Shaitaan with its Rs 149.49 crore is now in the rearview mirror. 😜
Despite a rocky year for Hindi films in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD might just become the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. Globally, it’s the most successful Indian film of 2024 so far. Six days in, Vyjayanthi Movies reported earnings of Rs 610 crore worldwide. Will it break into the Rs 1000 crore club alongside biggies like Dangal (Rs 2070 crore), Baahubali 2 (Rs 1788 crore), RRR (Rs 1230 crore), KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 1215 crore), Jawan (Rs 1160 crore), and Pathaan (Rs 1055 crore)? Only time will tell, but it’s on track to outdo 2.0 (Rs 744.78 crore) and Prabhas’ own Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (approx. Rs 600 crore).
Set in a dystopian world, Kalki 2898 AD is inspired by Hindu scriptures and takes us on a wild ride into the year 2898 AD. The movie features a celebrity filled cast, including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. Kudos to Nag Ashwin for this ambitious project!
