Prabhas’ Movie Inches Closer to the 500 Crore Mark

Greetings, my Bollywood buffs! It’s your favorite snoop, Bollywood Newshound Nisha, here to spill the beans on the latest from our glittery tinsel town.

Oh, look what the cat dragged in! The box office is buzzing with the latest figures for Kalki 2898 AD, and honey, it’s raking in the moolah. On Day 10, this Nag Ashwin-directed sci-fi extravaganza has managed to mint a hefty ₹34.45 crore across all languages. That brings its total collection to a jaw-dropping ₹466 crore. 💰💥

For those living under a rock, Kalki 2898 AD is a mythological sci-fi drama that throws Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan into a cosmic blender. And because why not, it also has cameo appearances by Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli, Vijay Deverakonda, and Dulquer Salmaan. The film has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Talk about being multilingual!

Now, for the juicy bits from our Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who couldn’t resist taking to X (formerly known as Twitter, but who’s keeping track?). He shared the week 1 box office numbers for the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD. And guess what? It was an "EXCELLENT TOTAL," thanks to some strong word of mouth. The film kicked off with ₹22.50 crore on Thursday and continued its golden streak despite the T20 World Cup Final. Yes, you read that right—people chose the movie over cricket! 😱🏏

Here’s Taran’s breakdown in all its glory:

  • Thu: ₹22.50 cr
  • Fri: ₹23.25 cr
  • Sat: ₹26.25 cr
  • Sun: ₹40.15 cr
  • Mon: ₹16.50 cr
  • Tue: ₹13 cr
  • Wed: ₹11.50 cr
  • Thu: ₹10.10 cr

Total: ₹163.25 crore Nett BOC. And that’s just the Hindi version, folks!

As the film steps into Week 2, it’s expected to smash through the ₹200 crore mark over the weekend, potentially becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. Move over, Fighter! 🚀

Of course, not everyone is singing its praises. Our very own Saibal Chatterjee gave it a lukewarm 2.5 out of 5 stars in his review. But hey, when has critical acclaim ever stopped a Bollywood blockbuster from minting money?

So, what’s the moral of the story here, my dear readers?

    Nisha’s Nutshell:
In Bollywood, where stars shine and egos clash, the only thing that truly matters is the box office ka-ching! 💸✨

Stay fabulous, keep gossiping, and remember—if it’s Bollywood, it’s bound to be extra!
