As of Thursday morning, Neeraj Pandey’s cinematic brainchild has barely managed to sell 1000 tickets across the top three national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. To put it in perspective, the pre-sales for Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha are even more dismal than the July 12 disaster, Sarfira, starring Akshay Kumar. Yes, it’s that bad!
In a desperate bid to save face, the makers announced a discount offer. But guess what? It barely made a dent in the ticket sales. The audience seems to be more interested in watching paint dry than this film. The first day business of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is poised to send shock waves through the industry, and not in a good way.
And if you thought things couldn’t get worse, enter Ulajh. This Janhvi Kapoor-led thriller is already outdoing its competition in the race to the bottom. With less than 750 tickets sold across the top three national chains, it’s as if they’ve decided to go for the “least tickets sold” award. Truly groundbreaking stuff.
At this rate, Ulajh could open under a crore, making “disaster” sound like a compliment. Neither film is shining brightly in the box office galaxy, and it will take nothing short of a miracle for their stars to realign.
