‘Saw XI’ Gets the Chop from Release Line-Up

Guess who’s not coming back to the big screen in 2025? Jigsaw! But don’t worry, horror fans—there’s still plenty of terror in store. 🎃

Well, well, well, it seems that the infamous Jigsaw won’t be slicing his way back into our hearts (or nightmares) any time soon. Lionsgate, in a plot twist worthy of its own horror film, has decided to pull the plug on "Saw XI," which was all set to make a bloody entrance on September 26, 2025. Instead, they’re serving us a fresh plate of fear with "The Strangers – Chapter 2" on that very date. 😂

Now, if you’re wondering whether "Saw XI" will ever see the light of a projector, join the club. The whispers in the halls of Lionsgate suggested a 2023 green light with horror veteran Kevin Greutert at the helm. But alas, screenwriters Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan confessed to a certain publication that there’s been "zero progress" since they handed over a draft in the spring of 2024. Maybe they got lost in a maze of their own making? 🤷‍♀️

But don’t be too quick to mourn. Our dear Billy the Puppet, Jigsaw’s less-than-cheerful sidekick, has waved off these rumors as mere idle gossip. In true dramatic fashion, he declared, “You all should know me better than that. The game is never over.” Oh Billy, ever the optimist! 🃏

And considering the "Saw" franchise has been a box office darling for two decades, raking in $1 billion globally with 10 films, who can blame Billy for being so cocky? The last "Saw X" left a trail of terror in 2023, collecting a tidy $112 million worldwide. If history tells us anything, it’s that audiences love a good scare, especially when it involves a creepy puppet and a serial killer with a penchant for cruel games. 🎥

Meanwhile, "The Strangers: Chapter 1" had a surprisingly good run last summer, pulling in $48 million despite being tossed tomatoes by critics. Now, Lionsgate is going all in with a standalone trilogy, distinct from the 2008 movie that had us all checking our door locks twice. In this version, a young couple finds themselves in a cabin in the woods—because where else would they be?—only to be tormented by masked villains. Classic! 😱

Madelaine Petsch, one of the brave souls starring in this fright fest, promises "The Strangers—Chapter 2" will have us jumping out of our seats come September 26. And according to producers Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon, it’s the kind of movie you’ll watch through your fingers. Sounds like a perfect Halloween treat, doesn’t it? 🍬

Moral of the Story: Horror Never Dies, It Just Changes Its Mask! 🎭

Go on, Hollywood! Keep us trembling! Stay tuned, folks, as we wait to see which horror will keep us awake at night next. Maybe it’s just the popcorn prices? 🤔
