Speak No Evil Snags $1.3M in Sneak Peeks: Hollywood’s Latest Cash Grab

Hollywood Hrishita here, darling! Ready to spill the beans and throw some shade on the latest box office buzz? Grab your popcorn and a comfortable seat, because you’re in for a wild ride! 🍿🎬

Guess what, folks? "Speak No Evil" is all set to make some serious noise at the box office this weekend. This Universal and Blumhouse horror flick, a remake of that hair-raising Danish original from two years ago, has already scared up $1.3 million in previews. Not too shabby, eh? They’re predicting it will rake in between $10 million and $13 million over the opening weekend. Considering the movie was made on a shoe-string budget of $15 million, I’d say they’re off to a pretty solid start. 🤑💰

But wait, hold your applause. "Speak No Evil" is not even in the same league as Warner Bros.’ "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," which opened with a spine-chilling $111 million last weekend. Yup, you read that right! Tim Burton’s sequel is still the reigning champ and is expected to scare up another $45 million in its second weekend, even with a 60% decline in ticket sales. Talk about spooky good numbers! 👻💸

Directed by James Watkins (you know, the guy who did "Bastille Day"), "Speak No Evil" is a psychological horror that spirals out of control. Picture this: American couple Louise and Ben, played by Davis and Scoot McNairy, meet the odd British pair Paddy and Ciara, creepily portrayed by McAvoy and Aisling Franciosi, while on vacation. They get invited to spend a weekend with them, only for things to go south real quick. What started as a dream holiday turns into a nightmare of epic proportions. If the original Danish film’s reception at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival is anything to go by, this one’s going to be a dark, twisted ride. 🌚🔪

Oh, and don’t forget, Lionsgate’s "The Killer’s Game" is also debuting this weekend. Starring Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, Pom Klementieff, Terry Crews, and a few other familiar faces, this action flick follows an assassin who mistakenly orders a hit on himself after a bungled terminal illness diagnosis. Whoops! It managed to pull in $300,000 in previews and is expected to open with $5 million. Not exactly blockbuster material, but hey, it’s a living. 🤷‍♀️💥

Moral of the Story:
In Hollywood, the only thing scarier than a horror movie is the box office competition. 🎃📉

Stay spooky, my lovelies! 👻💖
