Stree 2 Box Office: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s horror comedy sets a new record for the highest earnings in the 5th weekend

Ladies and Gentlemen, gather ’round! Boxoffice Bhaskar here, ready to serve you the latest piping hot dish straight from the Bollywood box office oven. And, oh boy, does this one have a spicy kick!

So, what’s the buzz in B-town? Well, it’s none other than Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy sequel Stree 2. With Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor back to their ghost-busting antics, this cinematic gem has taken everyone by surprise. The first installment, Stree (2018), was a laugh riot, but who would’ve thunk that the sequel would be knocking on the door of a colossal ₹600 crores at the Indian box office? Not me, and I’m the box office guru!

Just when you thought the movie was done and dusted, Stree 2 swoops in like a Bollywood superhero, breaking records left, right, and center. The film recently wrapped up its fifth weekend with a bang, raking in a cool ₹16 crores. That’s right, folks, ₹16 crores in its FIFTH weekend! Talk about a ghost story that refuses to die!

To put things in perspective, the previous fifth-weekend champion was Uri: The Surgical Strike with ₹12.50 crores. And guess what? Only Stree 2 and Uri have managed to hit double figures in their fifth weekends. Here’s the leaderboard for the highest fifth-weekend grossers, just in case you’re keeping score at home:

Top Fifth Weekend Grossers:

  1. Stree 2 – ₹16 crores
  2. Uri: The Surgical Strike – ₹12.50 crores
  3. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior – ₹7.36 crores
  4. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi) – ₹6.97 crores
  5. Jawan – ₹6.45 crores
  6. KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) – ₹6.35 crores

Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and Jio Studios, and also starring Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee, Stree 2 is now sitting pretty with a whopping ₹580.18 crores in its kitty. If this isn’t a blockbuster, I don’t know what is!

But wait, there’s more! Even King Khan himself, Shah Rukh Khan, couldn’t resist praising Abhishek Banerjee for his performance in Stree 2. He’s been wanting to call the man, and who can blame him? Talent recognizes talent, after all.

So, folks, this is Boxoffice Bhaskar signing off with an age-old Bollywood lesson: Never underestimate the power of a good sequel, especially when it’s haunted by success!
