The Crow, Blink Twice: Now Teasing Audiences in Previews

Gather ’round, darlings! Hollywood Hrishita here, ready to spill the beans on the latest box office buzz. Grab your popcorn and let’s dive into the juicy deets!

So, as August lazily comes to a close, two fresh flicks have graced our theaters: Lionsgate’s “The Crow” reboot and Amazon MGM’s thriller “Blink Twice.” But let’s be real, the summer box office party is pretty much over. 🎉👋

First up, “The Crow.” This dark reboot stars Bill Skarsgard and the ever-talented FKA Twigs. Despite a valiant effort, it only managed to rake in a modest $650,000 in previews. Meanwhile, “Blink Twice” — directed by Zoe Kravitz with Channing Tatum flexing his acting muscles — did slightly better, pocketing $820,000. But, spoiler alert, neither of these is expected to break into the top three this weekend. Tough crowd, huh?

Now, let’s talk about the reigning champs. “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Alien: Romulus,” and “It Ends With Us” are still the popular kids in school. Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus” is set to rake in between $16 million to $19 million in its second week. Not too shabby! 🛸💰

As for our snarky duo, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, they’re not ready to bow out just yet. “Deadpool & Wolverine” is expected to claw back with $16 million to $18 million in its fifth week. Go on, lads! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♂️

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s romantic drama “It Ends With Us” is continuing its steady run, aiming for $10 million to $12 million in its third week. Ah, romance… 💕🎬

“Blink Twice,” on the other hand, is hoping to score $7 million to $8 million from 3,000 theaters. With Tatum playing a wealthy tech mogul who invites women to his private island only for things to get dark and twisty, it’s giving major “rich people problems” vibes. And considering its $20 million budget, it’s not in a bad spot even with a single-digit debut.

As for “The Crow,” it’s looking at $6 million to $9 million from 2,500 venues. Lionsgate snagged this reboot of the 1992 cult classic for $10 million. So, a single-digit opening? Meh, it’s not the end of the world. Skarsgard’s portrayal of Eric Draven, a vengeful resurrected killer, might still win hearts (and wallets) over time.

Moral of the Story: Box Office Darwinism

In Hollywood, it’s survival of the fittest, baby! Some flicks soar while others just flap around. But hey, whether you’re raking in millions or just a few bucks, there’s always room for a sequel. 😉
