Baman Kulkarni Film Review: An Amusing Tale of Friendship, Debt, and Deception

🌟🌟🌟🌟 Β½

Hold on to your popcorn, folks! Review Rani is here, and she’s about to spill the masala on Sumit Kulkarni’s latest flick. If you thought you were in for another run-of-the-mill Bollywood comedy, think again… or maybe not. 🙃

So, there’s this guy, Baman (Sharib Hashmi), who has an uncanny skill for making friends… and an equally strong talent for losing their trust. He’s got a dream, a start-up dream, and he needs a cool 15 lakhs to make it happen. But alas, his reputation precedes him. His track record of failed ventures and unpaid loans has his pals running for the hills whenever he’s around.

Our dear protagonist decides to play a little game of ‘catch me if you can’ with his old buddies, hoping to squeeze out some interest-free dough. Does he succeed? Well, let’s just say things get… interesting.

The film rides high on wit, slapstick humor, and a dash of nostalgia. Baman’s escapades, from duping unsuspecting passengers into thinking he’s a cabbie, to causing mayhem at his friend Karan’s place (Sanjay Bishnoi), are quite the riot. Then there’s More (Gaurav More), the house help who’s utterly bewildered by the duo’s antics. And let’s not forget the squabbling between Karan’s wife Mohini (Vidya Malavade) and her mother-in-law – classic Bollywood spice!

Sharib Hashmi, as Baman, is like a hyperactive kid on a sugar high, and he totally owns it. He’s the life of the party, the clown on centre stage, effortlessly switching between crude humor and emotional outbursts. Bishnoi, as the wealthy businessman torn between friendship and sanity, is convincing. And Patil, as the frustrated Akhil who just can’t stop sermonizing his son, does a swell job.

Of course, the movie isn’t without its share of cliches, and the ending… well, let’s just say it was as surprising as finding traffic on Mumbai roads during rush hour. But hey, it’s Bollywood, right? We’re here for the laughs, not the plot twists.

Rani’s Wrap-Up: So, if you’ve got nothing better to do this weekend, go watch Baman and his hilarious attempts at securing a loan. It’s a one-time watch, but I guarantee you’ll chuckle more than a few times. After all, who doesn’t love a good laugh at someone else’s expense? 😉

Review Rani, signing off! Until the next reel rolls, keep your popcorn buttery and your soda fizzy. 🍿🥤
