Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Film Review: A Spirited Comedy That Haunts with Humor and Unexpected Twists

🙄🙄🙄🤣 (3 Out Of 5 Stars)

Oh, Bollywood, you never fail to surprise me with your… creativity. So, let me recount the tale of our latest cinematic offering, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Picture this: a conman named Ruhaan, who likes to moonlight as a ghostbuster (and why not?) finds himself invited to a haunted mansion – not by one, but two malevolent forces. It seems they need his services to straighten out their spectral shenanigans. 🤦‍♀️

Hello folks, Review Rani here. I survived watching Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and I’m here to tell you all about it!

Our conman-cum-ghostbuster, Ruhaan, also known as Rooh baba (played by Kartik Aaryan), is hired to help the desperate owners of a spooky mansion. The mansion brims with history and terror, courtesy of a resident ghost named Manjulika. Her spectral shenanigans have thwarted any attempts at restoring the mansion to its former glory and selling it. With the royal family’s resources dwindling, they seek our Rooh Baba’s intervention. But, oops! Rooh Baba bites off more than he can chew when he discovers not one but two dark forces claiming to be Manjulika. 👻👻

Directed by Anees Bazmee, who returns to helm BB3 after his 2022 hit and takes over the reigns from Priyadarshan, this film falls slap bang into the horror-comedy genre. The film does a decent job of keeping the audience engaged, with a standout scene revolving around a superstar being the film’s highlight. Some comic punches might miss the mark, and the story takes its sweet time to build up. However, a well-crafted twist in the climax saves the day, and the art direction deserves a shout out too.

Kartik Aaryan is the anchor of this ship, with the most screen time and a character that he truly owns. But the ladies steal the show. Tabu, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit are absolute scene stealers and stunners, adding much-needed strength to the script. Vidya Balan returns to the franchise after her iconic portrayal of Manjulika in 2007, and she’s a delight to watch. Madhuri Dixit, with her grace and charisma, is a sight to behold. Their dance-off in the song "Ami Je Tomar" is worth a watch, even if it feels a bit sudden.

Let’s not forget our talented supporting cast. Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra and Ashwini Kalsekar, despite being gifted actors, are handed some pretty mediocre lines. Triptii Dimri’s character could have been fleshed out better.

Rani’s Wrap-Up

In conclusion, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a mixed bag of tricks. It has its moments of highs and lows but it delivers what you’d expect from a Diwali family entertainer. Just remember, no spoilers for the climax, don’t be that person! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am off to cleanse my palate with a classic black and white film. Till next time, this is Review Rani, signing off. 💁‍♀️👑✔️
