Bloody Ishq Film Review: A Mishmash of Romance and Horror That Fails to Leave a Mark

🌟🌟(2/5)

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Another horror flick that’s as scary as a fluffy kitten, and as thrilling as watching paint dry? News flash, it’s Vikram Bhatt’s cinematic masterpiece, ‘Bloody Ishq’. 🙄

Bollywood, listen up, your Review Rani is here to spill the tea and trust me, it’s not sweet! So, let’s dive into the pool of clichés, predictable plotlines, and romantic melodrama that ‘Bloody Ishq’ offers us.💁‍♀️

Our damsel in distress, Neha (Avika Gor), suffers a traumatic experience and loses her memory. Her knight in shining armor, Romesh (Vardhan Puri), helps her regain her lost memory. Awww, isn’t that sweet? Too bad it’s as original as a fake Gucci bag.👜🙄

Mahesh Bhatt pens the story, which has our love birds move to a secluded mansion in Scotland after Neha’s near-death experience (because that’s the most logical thing to do, right?). Then, surprise, surprise, spooky occurrences start happening. Neha then plays detective (Scooby-Doo style) to figure out if the house is haunted or if it’s just a case of bad plumbing.

In a predictable twist, Neha’s friend Ayesha (Jeniffer Piccinato) tries to help her remember her past. But the question is, is she really helping or is she the villain in disguise? The answer is as obvious as a pimple on the nose, yet the movie drags on for 138 minutes to reveal it.

‘Bloody Ishq’ is a mishmash of clichés and tropes, with zero surprises or ‘wow’ moments. The dialogues by Shweta Bothra add as much drama to the film as a sip of water in the desert. The horror elements are as scary as a toddler’s Halloween costume, and the love story feels as real as unicorn existence. Even the haunted happenings in the mansion fail to deliver goosebumps. 👻

Despite being handed a script as dull as a butter knife, Avika Gor somehow manages to deliver a decent performance as Neha. Vardhan Puri is passable as Romesh, and Jeniffer Piccinato plays her part well, or at least as well as she could.

You’d expect the music to be a saving grace in a Bhatt film, but ‘Bloody Ishq’ disappoints here too. The visual effects are as impressive as a child’s drawing, adding to the film’s overall letdown.

In a nutshell, ‘Bloody Ishq’ tries to be a romantic thriller with a splash of horror but ends up being a damp squib in both genres.

Rani’s Wrap-Up: ‘Bloody Ishq’ is as thrilling as doing laundry and as scary as a stuffed toy. It’s as original as a photocopy and as interesting as watching grass grow. So, unless you’re a fan of clichés, predictable plots, and mediocre performances, give it a miss. 😂🙏

Remember, darlings, Review Rani is here to tell it as it is, no sugar-coating. Until the next Bollywood disaster, ta-ta! 👋😉
