Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story Film Review: A Fly-by Love Affair that Fails to Take Off

📽️🎞️🎬🍿 Emoticon Rating: 😂🌟🌟🌠 (2.5 out of 5)

Well, hello there Bollywood aficionados! It’s your favorite sayer of sarcastic cinematic sagas, Review Rani, back from another stint in the trenches of Hindi cinema. Today, we’re dissecting the latest love story to hit the silver screen, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story. Buckle up, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride! 🎢

Kunal Kohli, the man who once gave us the delightful Hum Tum, is back with another rom-com. Only this time, it’s less ‘rom’ and more ‘com’ – and not in a good way. Bobby (Kaveri Kapur) and Rishi (Vardhaan Puri) are two polar opposites (seriously, they couldn’t be more opposite if they tried) who find themselves grounded in London and, like all good Bollywood plotlines, fall in love in 24 hours. 🕓💘

Now, if only the movie was as fast-paced as their love story. With a run time of only 97 minutes, you’d think you were in for a quick cinematic treat. But, alas, it felt like an eternity. The first half is basically a love letter to the song Ladki Kyon from Hum Tum – a nostalgic, albeit unnecessary, nod that does nothing to move the plot forward.

The film focuses on Bobby, who starts her journey in Glasgow, ends up in Heathrow, and eventually finds herself in Cambridge, with Rishi hot on her heels. After an initial bout of discomfort, Bobby and Rishi start to bond. However, Bobby, fresh from a breakup, is hesitant to dive into a new relationship, and so they part ways.

Fast forward two years, and our dear couple is in therapy. It’s a plot twist that feels as forced as a smile at a dentist’s office. 😬

The chemistry between Kapur and Puri is about as exciting as a chemistry lecture on a Monday morning. And while Puri is as affable as the boy next door, his performance is as forgettable as your last grocery list. Kapur, in her debut, shows promise but needs more seasoning to truly shine.

Lillete Dubey, as Dr. Shenaya, brings a touch of maturity to an otherwise juvenile narrative. But even she can’t save this sinking ship. The film tries to pay homage to classic rom-coms like Hum Tum, but it does so with the finesse of a bull in a china shop – crashing into predictable plotlines and unnecessary song sequences.

Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story tries to take us on a nostalgic journey through the rom-com genre. But, unfortunately, it ends up feeling like a hurried tribute to Hum Tum, lacking the charm, depth, and memorable moments that made Kohli’s previous work a hit.

With outdated clichés, a shallow love story, and performances that fail to impress, this rom-com is as underwhelming as a lukewarm chai on a cold winter’s night.

👑 Rani’s Wrap-Up: If you’re looking for a love story that leaves a lasting impression, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story is not it. This one is as forgettable as the last slice of bread in the packet. Save yourself the trouble and watch Hum Tum again! 📺💔🍞

Until next time, keep your popcorn ready and your expectations low! 🍿😎
