Alright, my lovely Bollywood buffs, fasten your seatbelts and brace yourselves as Review Rani takes you on a journey through the twisted lanes of the latest "supposed" thriller, Ghuspaithiya. This film is like that one friend who promises to set you up with your crush, only to find out that the crush is a cardboard cutout of your favorite celebrity. Let’s dive right into the digital abyss that this movie throws us into. 😏
So here we have Ravi Rana (Vineet Kumar Singh), our very own law enforcement hero, playing secret Santa to the high and mighty of the society, eavesdropping on their not-so-innocent banter. Now, you would expect some juicy revelations, right? Well, the only thing juicy about this movie is the over-the-top drama that ensues when Ravi’s social media junkie wife, Abha (Urvashi Rautela), becomes the new plaything for our resident tech-savvy creep, Anshuman (Akshay Oberoi).
Writer-director Susi Ganeshan seems to be playing a game of digital chess, trying to pack the cat and mouse chase, privacy invasions, and cyberstalking into one. But instead, it feels like watching a game of snakes and ladders, where the plot keeps sliding down one snake after another. 🐍
Oh, and let’s talk about the "thrilling" twists. The subplot where Ravi himself becomes the target of surveillance could have added a layer of suspense, but it feels like an unwanted guest at a party, popping up out of the blue. And then there’s the scene where Ravi, the supposed embodiment of law and order, takes the ‘law into his hands’ and resorts to brute force rather than using his brain. It’s like watching a boxing match where one fighter is only throwing punches, and the other one is… just standing there. 🥊
And the climax, ah, the climax! It’s as if the writers decided to wrap up the film in a hurry, like they had a bus to catch. Ravi’s master plan to stop Anshuman is more undercooked than a half-baked lasagna!
Now, don’t get me wrong, the performances are laudable. Vineet Kumar Singh is magnetic as the tormented officer, and Akshay Oberoi is chilling as the cyberstalker. Urvashi Rautela does an okay-ish job, considering the limited scope of her character. 🎭
Rani’s Wrap-Up: Ghuspaithiya could have been a gripping thriller, but it ends up as a muddled mess.
