Kartam Bhugtam Film Review: A Karma-Driven Thriller That Sows Suspense and Reaps Rewards

Let’s kick this off with a zinger, shall we? 🎉 So, here we have a film, "Kartam Bhugtam", that seems to have taken the phrase "What goes around comes around" a tad too seriously. And I, your beloved Review Rani, am here to give my two cents on it.

The crux of the story, my dear Bollywood savvies, is about this NRI chap, Dev Joshi (played by Shreyas Talpade). His grand plan? To sell off his late papa’s belongings and make a quick buck. But as luck would have it, he stumbles upon our esteemed astrologer, Anna (Vijay Raaz). Now, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill horoscope reader. No, siree! He’s the real deal – predicting your future like he’s got a crystal ball for a brain.

Our Dev though, he’s a skeptic. He doesn’t buy into this hocus pocus. Well, until things start going south and the astrologer’s words start haunting him like a Bollywood music track on loop. (You know what I mean, right?) 😏

I must say, the screenplay does keep you on your toes with unexpected twists and turns. It’s like trying to walk in heels after a few glasses of wine; you never know when you might stumble. But the real stars here are our lead actors, Shreyas and Vijay, who have managed to pull off their roles convincingly.

But, hold your horses! 🐴 Where’s our female protagonist, you ask? Madhoo, the evergreen beauty, graces us with her presence as Anna’s devoted wife and a God-fearing teacher. But, oh dear! Her character lacks depth, just like the plot of a typical Bollywood rom-com. And let’s not forget our supporting actress, Aksha Pardasany. She’s there, she’s trying, but that’s about it.

The movie flows like a steady stream, no unnecessary distractions, no forced drama. A little too simplistic, if you ask me. But hey, it’s also the film’s strength. It sticks to its point โ€“ Karma’s gonna get ya! Itโ€™s like a puppy chasing its tail, no matter how far you run, it’s always there.

So, all in all, "Kartam Bhugtam" is a decent watch. It serves a slice of life with a side of thriller, and a dash of moral lesson. Just remember, my folks, in this game of life, Karma is the player and we’re all just pawns. 🎲

Rani’s Wrap-Up: If you’re in for a simplistic tale of Karma served with a side of thrill, then "Kartam Bhugtam" might just be your cup of chai. But remember, don’t take it too seriously or you might find yourself checking your horoscope every five minutes. 😉
