Legally Veer Film Review: A Verdict on Justice and Redemption in a Courtroom Drama

🙄🙄🙄🤣- That’s right, only 3.5 ‘eye roll’ emojis out of 5 for this one.

Ladies and gentlemen (and all the bored souls in between), brace yourselves for the ride of your life as I, your beloved Review Rani, serve you the scoop on Bollywood’s latest so-called legal thriller, tantalizingly titled, ‘Legally Veer’.

Let’s delve into the ‘intriguing’ story of our protagonist Veer, an NRI lawyer who seems to have a penchant for picking up cases as complicated as the plot of this movie. Veer’s life in the US is turned upside down by the tragic demise of his wife, Priya. He then decides to pack his bags and head back to India where he reunites with dear daddy and his ex-buddy Raghu.

Veer, in an act that screams mid-life crisis, apologizes to Raghu and rejoins their old law firm. Then, out of nowhere, a damsel in distress pops up (because, of course, we need some melodrama) with a father wrongfully accused of murder. Veer, in all his legal glory, takes up the case only to discover that he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

Our hero, Malikireddy Veer Reddy, in his debut film, does a decent job in his role. He manages to fumble his way through courtroom scenes with an air of confidence that is almost convincing. Delhi Ganesh, playing the role of Veer’s father, brings a dash of authenticity to the mix with their heartfelt exchanges adding a smidgen of depth to the script.

‘Legally Veer’ is essentially a jumble of courtroom showdowns and redemption arcs, held together by a screenplay that seems to have taken a vow of coherence. The face-offs between Veer and defense attorney Satyanarayana are the film’s crowning glory, if you will, serving a hearty dish of tension and half-baked dialogue.

The film does throw in a few curveballs here and there, attempting to keep us on our toes. It also takes us on a guided tour of police and courtroom procedures, which might have been educational if it wasn’t so mind-numbingly dull.

The film’s flow is disrupted more times than I could count, with random songs popping up like unwanted advertisements. These musical intermissions seem to be there purely to provide a breather from the lackluster narrative.

Despite the glaring flaws, ‘Legally Veer’ manages to be a bearable legal drama, thanks to a reasonably engaging storyline, a handful of good performances, and a few gripping courtroom scenes.

Rani’s Rib-Tickling Wrap-Up:
So, if you’ve got an insatiable appetite for legal dramas that are as predictable as my next sarcastic comment, then ‘Legally Veer’ might just be your cup of oversteeped, lukewarm tea. 😏🍵
