πSarcasm Alert: Review Rani at Your Service!π
Well, well, well, if it isnβt another Bollywood drama, masquerading as a fresh, modern take on romance and family values! The film "Love, Sitara" takes us on a rollercoaster ride of secrets, lies, and a lot of melodrama. So buckle up, my dear readers, because weβre diving deep into this one!
Sitara, played by the beautiful Sobhita Dhulipala, is an award-winning interior designer dating a hot-shot chef, Arjun (Rajeev Siddhartha). To everyoneβs surprise, she proposes to him. Wait, what? Yes, you read right! Our independent and accomplished Sitara decides to embrace the institution she never believed in β marriage! But this isnβt your typical love story, folks. Itβs Bollywood, so thereβs a twist β Sitaraβs got a dark secret, and itβs not about her fear of commitment.
So off they go to Kerala, to Sitaraβs ancestral home, for a whirlwind wedding. The film takes us through a labyrinth of familial relationships, old secrets, and not-so-subtle hints of infidelity. We meet Sitaraβs family β her mother Latha, father Govind, aunt Hema, and a grandmother who seems to be as hard as the coconut trees in their lush Kerala backyard.
As the wedding draws near, our dear Sitara stumbles upon the Pandoraβs box of family secrets. She discovers old photographs hinting at an affair between her father and her "single by choice" aunt Hema. Oh, the irony! But before you think sheβs a hypocrite, remember sheβs hiding a secret from her soon-to-be husband too.
Our dear director, Vandana Kulkarni, who previously gave us the heart-wrenching film "Noblemen", decided to paint a picture of three generations of flawed women. Thereβs a lot of melodrama, some clunky narrative, and overused tropes, all while trying to explore the dynamics of family bonds, societal norms, and hidden secrets.
The filmβs saving grace lies in its stunning cinematography, capturing the lush greens of Kerala in all its glory, and a soundtrack thatβs easy on the ears. And of course, we canβt forget the performances. B.Jayshree, Virginia Rodrigues, and Sonali Kulkarni do their best with what theyβve been given. But the film mostly relies on Sitaraβs character, and Sobhita Dhulipalaβs screen presence does justice to it, with Rajeev Siddharthaβs Arjun playing the perfect supporting role.
Raniβs Wrap-Up:
In conclusion, "Love, Sitara" is a cinematic roller coaster ride β sometimes up, sometimes down, and sometimes going in circles. Itβs a classic mix of family drama, romance, and secrets, served with a side of lush Kerala greens. But hey, if youβve got nothing better to do, why not give it a watch? After all, who doesnβt like a bit of melodrama with their popcorn!
Remember, this is Review Rani signing off, reminding you that Bollywoodβs plot twists are sometimes more twisted than the strands of your jalebi! π
