Luv You Shankar Film Review: A Stumbling Reincarnation Saga That Fails to Ascend

🤷‍♀️👎👎👎👎👎 (1 out of 5 stars)

🎬 Cue dramatic Bollywood music 🎵 – Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Review Rani, back again with her snarky, sarcastic, and highly entertaining take on Bollywood’s latest misfires. Buckle up, because we’re about to dive into the abyss of mediocrity that is – ‘Luv You Shankar’. 😖

In this hot mess of a film, we follow the exploits of Shivansh, an 8-year-old kid who, after a small mishap, discovers that he’s the reincarnation of a Lord Shiva devotee – Rudra. What follows is a painfully predictable tale of revenge against a fraudulent Guru, Siddheshwar, who’s responsible for Rudra’s untimely death. The film supposedly targets the kids, but I doubt even they would be able to sit through such a dull plot and lackluster performances. 😪

Little Shivansh (Mann Gandhi), living the high life in London, suddenly finds himself in a hospital bed with some past life revelations. He learns that he’s the reincarnation of Rudra (a rather disappointing Shreyas Talpade), and sets off to Banaras to settle some old scores. Along the way, he reconnects with Madhav (Hemant Pandey, the only shining light in this cinematic black hole), and Siddhu (Abhimanyu Singh), who’s now a scammy Guru. 🙄

The film attempts to sprinkle some magic with animated sequences but falls flat on its face. Even the presence of talented actors like Shreyas Talpade and Abhimanyu Singh couldn’t save this ship from sinking. Hemant Pandey does manage to infuse some life into the narrative with his portrayal of Madhav, and Sanjay Mishra’s small role provides temporary relief. However, Mann Gandhi’s flat portrayal of Shivansh and Tanishaa’s forgettable cameo only add to the pile of mediocrity. 😑

Directed by Sanjay S Ruia, the film is a failed attempt at recreating the charm of his earlier work, ‘My Friend Ganesha’. It starts in London, shifts to Banaras, but fails to capture the essence of either city. The animated sequences featuring Lord Shiva are a major letdown, with a glaring lack of creativity and innovation. The film kicks off with a promising start but soon descends into a pit of disappointment. ☹️

Rani’s Rap-up: ‘Luv You Shankar’ is like a poorly cooked dish – it starts off with a promising aroma but ends up leaving a terrible aftertaste. It’s a film that leaves you yearning for the end credits. If there’s one thing you should take away from this review, it’s this – avoid ‘Luv You Shankar’ like a plague. Trust me, your time is better spent elsewhere. 🙅‍♀️🎥
