🎬🎥 Brace yourselves Bollywood buffs, for Review Rani is back! 🎥🎬
💃💃 So, there’s this young lady, letβs call her Richa, because well, that’s her name in the film (played by Sanya Malhotra). See, our Richa here has a dream, a passion, a fire in her belly and itβs all about dance. But alas! Fate has other plans. She gets hitched to Diwakar (Nishant Dahiya), a doc by profession, and finds herself embroiled in the exciting world of mother-in-law supervision, father-in-law opinions, and an unending pile of dirty dishes. 💃💃
🍛🍲 From the crack of dawn, it’s all about flipping hot rotis, perfecting the curries, and ensuring the menfolk are well-fed. Evenings see her scouring the sink, washing up after yet another culinary marathon. The men, you ask? Oh, they are busy enjoying their leisurely strolls, reading, or smacking squash balls. Restaurant food? "Oh, no! That’s a big no-no in our house," says the father-in-law. But, hey, guess what? The rules magically relax when the women are menstruating. How convenient! 🍛🍲
💔💔 But poor Richaβs dreams of dancing are slowly fading into oblivion. She finds herself stuck in a time loop of kitchen duties, punctuated by disapproving grunts from the men when the food isn’t top-notch. No one cares about her fatigue, her desire for a break, or her longing for a sympathetic ear. The husband, once all sugary sweet, transforms into a grumpy grouch. The leaking sink remains a constant, and the patriarchal mindset of the family starts wearing her down. 💔💔
🎬🎬 Directed by Arati Kadav, βMrs.β is the Hindi version of the critically acclaimed Malayalam film, ‘The Great Indian Kitchen.’ It follows the same storyline, with a few tweaks to fit the culture. The narrative beautifully captures the toxic dynamics within traditional family setups and the deep-rooted patriarchy that does not spare any gender. 🎬🎬
💃💃 Sanya Malhotra aced it as Richa, portraying the journey of a hopeful young bride, slowly broken down by the daily grind. Nishant Dahiya did a commendable job as Diwakar, and Kanwaljit Singh was as dependable as ever. 💃💃
🍿🍿 For those who haven’t watched the original, ‘Mrs.’ is a must-watch. Itβs a potent tale that exposes the subtle everyday patriarchal norms that overlook a woman’s desires, wants, and needs. 🍿🍿
Rani’s Wrap-Up: If you can stomach a hefty dose of patriarchy served with a side of kitchen politics, then ‘Mrs.’ is your dish. Bon appΓ©tit!
