π¬ Lights, camera, action! Here we are again, darlings, with your queen of Bollywood sass, Review Rani. Get ready for an absurdly humorous spin on βThe Sabarmati Report,β a film that tries to uncover the murky layers behind the 2002 Godhra incident. π₯π
βThe Sabarmati Reportβ attempts to add a fresh perspective to the tragic Godhra incident, where 59 people had their train ride to heaven, courtesy of a horrendous fire in 2002. Now donβt get me wrong, itβs a commendable attempt, but like an overpriced coffee at a hipster cafΓ©, itβs somewhat lacking in substance. π
The movie introduces us to Samar Kumar (Vikrant Massey), a Hindi journalist who is as naΓ―ve as a deer caught in headlights. Recruited by the hard-as-nails Mahika (Ridhi Dogra), they set off to cover the Godhra incident. However, a call from the boss lady changes the narrative faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer. π±π¨
Our poor Samar, who was busy playing Sherlock Holmes, is fired when his version of the truth didnβt match with the channelβs βalternative factsβ. What follows next is a classic tale of joblessness, despair, and a new-found love for the bottle.πΎπ
As the 5th anniversary of the incident approaches, enter Amrita Gill (Raashi Khanna), who seeks guidance from the now-disheveled Samar. Together, they aim to provide an unfiltered account of the incident, like a detox juice after a weekend of binge eating. πΉπ
Vikrant Massey and Raashi Khanna deliver commendable performances, but itβs Ridhi Dogra who steals the show. She plays the quintessential bad boss with an uncanny resemblance to a Disney villain β cold, calculating, and with a dash of arrogance, just how we like it! π
However, the movieβs approach to journalism is as skewed as a Picasso painting. It portrays journalists hopping on flights just to deliver tapes. I mean really? Even in 2002, wasnβt snail mail good enough?πβοΈ
The movie tries to encapsulate the tragedy of Godhra, but with its glossy treatment, it feels more like a Bollywood drama than a true depiction of events. Itβs like putting glitter on a sad faceβ¦ sure, it sparkles, but itβs still a sad face! π’β¨
Raniβs Wrap-Up:
So darlings, βThe Sabarmati Reportβ is an interesting watch, but donβt forget to take it with a bucket of popcorn and a pinch of salt. After all, itβs just a movie, not a history lesson! ππΏ
Remember, Bollywood is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youβre gonna get! Until next time, this is Review Rani signing off. Stay sassy, folks! πππ¬
