The Sabarmati Report Film Review: A Track of Truth Amidst Political Manipulation and Media Mayhem

🌟🌟🌟1/2 (Three and a half stars)

🎬 Lights, camera, action! Here we are again, darlings, with your queen of Bollywood sass, Review Rani. Get ready for an absurdly humorous spin on “The Sabarmati Report,” a film that tries to uncover the murky layers behind the 2002 Godhra incident. 🎥😎

“The Sabarmati Report” attempts to add a fresh perspective to the tragic Godhra incident, where 59 people had their train ride to heaven, courtesy of a horrendous fire in 2002. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a commendable attempt, but like an overpriced coffee at a hipster café, it’s somewhat lacking in substance. 😅

The movie introduces us to Samar Kumar (Vikrant Massey), a Hindi journalist who is as naïve as a deer caught in headlights. Recruited by the hard-as-nails Mahika (Ridhi Dogra), they set off to cover the Godhra incident. However, a call from the boss lady changes the narrative faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer. 🐱💨

Our poor Samar, who was busy playing Sherlock Holmes, is fired when his version of the truth didn’t match with the channel’s “alternative facts”. What follows next is a classic tale of joblessness, despair, and a new-found love for the bottle.🍾💔

As the 5th anniversary of the incident approaches, enter Amrita Gill (Raashi Khanna), who seeks guidance from the now-disheveled Samar. Together, they aim to provide an unfiltered account of the incident, like a detox juice after a weekend of binge eating. 🍹😂

Vikrant Massey and Raashi Khanna deliver commendable performances, but it’s Ridhi Dogra who steals the show. She plays the quintessential bad boss with an uncanny resemblance to a Disney villain – cold, calculating, and with a dash of arrogance, just how we like it! 😈

However, the movie’s approach to journalism is as skewed as a Picasso painting. It portrays journalists hopping on flights just to deliver tapes. I mean really? Even in 2002, wasn’t snail mail good enough?🐌✉️

The movie tries to encapsulate the tragedy of Godhra, but with its glossy treatment, it feels more like a Bollywood drama than a true depiction of events. It’s like putting glitter on a sad face… sure, it sparkles, but it’s still a sad face! 😢✨

Rani’s Wrap-Up:

So darlings, “The Sabarmati Report” is an interesting watch, but don’t forget to take it with a bucket of popcorn and a pinch of salt. After all, it’s just a movie, not a history lesson! 😉🍿

Remember, Bollywood is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get! Until next time, this is Review Rani signing off. Stay sassy, folks! 💋👑🎬
