What happens when a peaceful town is suddenly thrown into a whirlpool of suspicion and intrigue? Just another day in Bollywood, folks!
Welcome to the world of ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’ – a suspenseful tale set in the picturesque but mind-numbingly monotonous town of Rautu Ki Beli. A tranquil haven where even the chirping of the birds seems like a major event, until... BAM! The town is shaken up by a death that seems as mysterious as the recipe of my grandma's secret pickle!
This is Review Rani, here to spill the masala on this latest Bollywood flick.
So, we have a blind school, a dead warden and a town that's suddenly more buzzing than a gossip club on a Saturday night. The otherwise peaceful community is thrown into a tizzy, as what seemed like a natural demise now reeks of foul play. Enter our quirky cop, SHO Deepak Negi (played by the ever-so-talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui). He's as laid-back as a beach chair and his investigative technique is, to put it mildly, as unconventional as it gets.
The director, Anand Surapur, and his co-writer, Shariq Patel, seem to have taken the phrase "slow and steady wins the race" a bit too literally. The investigation is as unhurried as a snail on a joyride, and at times it feels like the climax might arrive post our retirement. But hey, we do get a sneak peek into the daily life of the villagers, for whatever that's worth.
The narrative also throws in a subplot about two blind students, Rajat and Diya, which does tug at your heartstrings a bit. Siddiqui, with his portrayal of a PTSD-afflicted cop, is as brilliant as always, even if his character does remind us of Pankaj Tripathi’s role in ‘Murder Mubarak’. But hey, at least he brings some much-needed eccentricity to the otherwise monotonous plot.
The cinematography, capturing the scenic beauty of the town, is commendable. But let's be real, even the breathtaking view can't save a plot that's moving slower than a traffic jam on Monday morning.
In conclusion, ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’ is as suspenseful as a game of hide and seek where you already know the hiding spots. Yes, it keeps you mildly curious till the end, but it could definitely use a dose of adrenaline.
Rani's Wrap-Up: If you're a fan of slow-cooker recipes, ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’ might just be your cup of tea. But if you're looking for the thrill of a roller-coaster ride, this film might leave you feeling like you just took a leisurely stroll in the park. 🚶♀️🌳🐌
