Rajeev Khandelwal grabs lead in Aditya Sarpotdar’s upcoming project; set to don an Indiana Jones-esque avatar in a Disney+ Hotstar series

Bollywood’s Newest Adventure: Rajeev Khandelwal Goes Full Indiana Jones!

Hold on to your hats, folks, because Rajeev Khandelwal is about to embark on an adventure that even Indiana Jones would be jealous of! Yes, you heard it right. The charming Mr. Khandelwal has bagged a role in Aditya Sarpotdar’s next big venture, which is set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. And if you thought this was just another run-of-the-mill web series, think again. This untitled project is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Pratipashchandra’.

Rajeev, our dashing hero, couldn’t contain his excitement while chatting with Mid-Day. He revealed, “There are people who want to bring another side to you [on screen]. Aditya is one of them. In this series, he will perform more than us because it’s all about storytelling. I keep telling him, ‘You had Munjya and Kakuda. Now, make this as big as Munjya’.” Oh Rajeev, always the humble one, aren’t we? 😏

In another tête-à-tête with Times Now back in June, Rajeev spilled some more beans, saying, “It’s a very interesting series. The closest parallel I can think of is Indiana Jones.” Well, whip out your hats and khakis, Bollywood! We’re going treasure hunting!

For those not in the loop, ‘Pratipashchandra’ is penned by Dr. Prakash Suryakant Koyade and is hailed as the ‘first Shivaji-era historical mystery novel’. The plot revolves around a secret guarded since the times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and involves a mystery that spans centuries. Sounds like a rollercoaster of thrills, chills, and historical spills.

Rajeev, who recently starred in the quirky web series Showtime as the arrogant superstar Armaan Singh, is no stranger to OTT platforms. It seems Disney+ Hotstar has a soft spot for him. And honestly, who can blame them? 😉

Director Aditya Sarpotdar is riding high on his recent successes. His horror comedy Munjya and the film Kakuda have been the talk of the town. Munjya is part of the Maddock Cinematic Universe, linked to the likes of Bhediya and Stree. Meanwhile, Kakuda, released on Zee 5, starred Bollywood’s biggies Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha, and Saqib Saleem.
