So, ‘Indian 2’ hit theatres on July 12, and let’s just say, it didn’t exactly light up the box office like a Diwali rocket. The film, which was supposed to be a grand comeback, has been replaced by other flicks faster than you can say "blockbuster." According to the latest box office gossip, ‘Indian 2’ managed to rake in a modest Rs 3 crore on the first day of its second week in India. Globally, it’s hovering around the Rs 5 crore mark. In its first week, ‘Indian 2’ managed to scrape together Rs 138 crore. By day 8, it added another Rs 5 crore, bringing the grand total to Rs 143 crore. In Tamil Nadu, the movie has bravely crossed the Rs 50 crore mark, but outside the state, the response has been as lukewarm as last night’s chai. ☕ The high-budget drama is clinging to the hope that it will see a surge in the box office during its second week. Maybe it will cross the Rs 150 crore mark by the end of today. Maybe.
Directed by Shankar, ‘Indian 2’ stars the legendary Kamal Haasan, along with Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Nedumudi Venu, and the ever-menacing Gulshan Grover. Anirudh Ravichander, the musical genius, has scored the music, and the film has been released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Quite the ensemble, but even a celebrity filled cast sometimes can’t save a sinking ship. 🚢
