đSarcasm Alert: Review Rani at Your Service!đ
Well, well, well, if it isnât another Bollywood drama, masquerading as a fresh, modern take on romance and family values! The film "Love, Sitara" takes us on a rollercoaster ride of secrets, lies, and a lot of melodrama. So buckle up, my dear readers, because weâre diving deep into this one!
Sitara, played by the beautiful Sobhita Dhulipala, is an award-winning interior designer dating a hot-shot chef, Arjun (Rajeev Siddhartha). To everyoneâs surprise, she proposes to him. Wait, what? Yes, you read right! Our independent and accomplished Sitara decides to embrace the institution she never believed in â marriage! But this isnât your typical love story, folks. Itâs Bollywood, so thereâs a twist â Sitaraâs got a dark secret, and itâs not about her fear of commitment.
So off they go to Kerala, to Sitaraâs ancestral home, for a whirlwind wedding. The film takes us through a labyrinth of familial relationships, old secrets, and not-so-subtle hints of infidelity. We meet Sitaraâs family â her mother Latha, father Govind, aunt Hema, and a grandmother who seems to be as hard as the coconut trees in their lush Kerala backyard.
As the wedding draws near, our dear Sitara stumbles upon the Pandoraâs box of family secrets. She discovers old photographs hinting at an affair between her father and her "single by choice" aunt Hema. Oh, the irony! But before you think sheâs a hypocrite, remember sheâs hiding a secret from her soon-to-be husband too.
Our dear director, Vandana Kulkarni, who previously gave us the heart-wrenching film "Noblemen", decided to paint a picture of three generations of flawed women. Thereâs a lot of melodrama, some clunky narrative, and overused tropes, all while trying to explore the dynamics of family bonds, societal norms, and hidden secrets.
The filmâs saving grace lies in its stunning cinematography, capturing the lush greens of Kerala in all its glory, and a soundtrack thatâs easy on the ears. And of course, we canât forget the performances. B.Jayshree, Virginia Rodrigues, and Sonali Kulkarni do their best with what theyâve been given. But the film mostly relies on Sitaraâs character, and Sobhita Dhulipalaâs screen presence does justice to it, with Rajeev Siddharthaâs Arjun playing the perfect supporting role.
Raniâs Wrap-Up:
In conclusion, "Love, Sitara" is a cinematic roller coaster ride â sometimes up, sometimes down, and sometimes going in circles. Itâs a classic mix of family drama, romance, and secrets, served with a side of lush Kerala greens. But hey, if youâve got nothing better to do, why not give it a watch? After all, who doesnât like a bit of melodrama with their popcorn!
Remember, this is Review Rani signing off, reminding you that Bollywoodâs plot twists are sometimes more twisted than the strands of your jalebi! đ
