Breathe in…and exhale. Let us embark on this titanic voyage of a movie review. Friends, fans, and followers, Review Rani is back, adjusting her rose-tinted glasses to dissect the Bollywood flick, "Tumko Meri Kasam."
"Imagine being a renowned fertility specialist who’s on trial for attempted murder," is the plot that director Vikram Bhatt serves us on a not-so-silver platter with this movie. Our main man, Dr. Ajay Murdia, played by Anupam Kher, is caught in this whirlwind. The movie attempts to juggle his groundbreaking work in IVF treatment and a lawsuit threatening to topple his career like a deck of cards. Interesting, right? Well, hold your horses. 🐎
We’ve got a double-decker plot here—Ajay’s early struggle against societal bias in the ’80s when fertility clinics were viewed as dens of vice, and a courtroom drama where he’s accused of attempted murder. Our antagonist, Rajeev Khosla, played by Meherrzan Mazda, accuses Ajay of trying to kill him to maintain his chairmanship of the sprawling Indira IVF chain. Amidst this chaos, we witness the blossoming love story of Ajay and his rock, Indira, played by Adah Sharma. Sounds like a riveting concoction, doesn’t it? But wait, there’s more.
Bhatt’s storytelling is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded—you’re not sure what’s coming next and whether you’ll enjoy it. The movie sways between romance, tragedy, and a courtroom drama, making it feel like a Bollywood smoothie that’s missing some key ingredients.
The formidable Anupam Kher tries to salvage the sinking ship with his portrayal of the betrayed doctor, while Esha Deol, as his defense attorney, tries to add some spice to the courtroom scenes. But it’s Ishwak Singh who steals the show as the young Ajay, capturing the essence of a visionary doctor with his realistic performance.
The movie does have its moments, like the emotional scenes between the young Ajay and Indira that may leave you reaching for the tissue box. But overall, it feels like a marathon at two hours and forty-six minutes, complete with song and dance routines that could have been left on the editing room floor.
So, is "Tumko Meri Kasam" worth your time? Let’s just say it’s a mixed bag. It has some power-packed performances and emotional depth, but the uneven pacing and lengthy runtime may leave you more exhausted than entertained.
